Shopping
The center of the city, the downtown shopping area, offers plenty of off-street parking in 18 municipal lots only a short block or two off Main Street. Downtown has everything to satisfy shopping needs - drug stores, specialty shops, fashion boutiques, sports stores, restaurants and more.

On the city's west side, on Highway 23 just east of U.S. 41, is Forest Mall, a climate-controlled facility with over 55 stores. More than a dozen other stores are located in Forest Plaza directly across Highway 23 from the Mall.

Other shopping centers in the community include Forest Plaza, Fond du Lac Plaza, Pioneer Plaza and Southtown-Cobblestone Square.

An all-year Christmas shop is located conveniently off of Highway 41 and Main Street. Kristmas Kringle Shoppe offers a variety of world-class collectible holiday ornaments.

Five large department stores - Wal-Mart, Shopko, Target, Fleet Farm and Menards - are located at key points in the city, either freestanding or as the primary anchor for a strip mall. Supermarkets are also conveniently located throughout the city, usually as the focal point of a small shopping center.

Eighteen banks and other financial services serve the community, encourage development, and provide a solid economic foundation.

Recreation
Fond du Lac has a wide range of recreational activities. There are a total of 20 parks, some with playground equipment, skating, swimming, tennis courts, and athletic areas. The Recreation Department is located at 85 Morningside Drive, (920) 929-2885.

Bowling - There are 84 bowling lanes in Fond du Lac and 4 bowling centers offered to the public. Tennis - 32 tennis courts. 21courts are lighted, 4 are indoors.

Other activities in the Fond du Lac area include fishing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, skating, cross country skiing, and camping. The Wild Goose Bike Trail doubles as a snowmobile trail in the winter.

Lake Winnebago
The third largest inland lake in the nation; 23 1/2 miles long, 10 1/2 miles wide, maximum chartered depth equals twenty-one feet. Noted for its fine walleye, perch and white bass. It is also known as the "Sturgeon Capitol of the World", and annually draws thousands of ice fishermen to try their hand at spearing these huge fish. Scene of boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing and snowmobiling.
