Tuesday, August 26, 2008 ACU - Do-It-Yourself Computer Safety & Security - Two Classes 7:30 am Location: Fond du Lac Public Library Computer Lab. Fee: $20 for AC members
$30 for non-AC members Business and home office computer users often run into trouble over problems that could easily be avoided or solved by following a few simple, do-it-yourself measures. Class members will receive handouts and how-to's. Class members will work in the FDL Library's computer lab, and instructors will walk them through the steps they need to learn to do the following correctly:
- Physical cleanup/startup/running
- Backup
- Computer cleanup
- Virus protection & spyware
SPECIAL ATTENTION: There will be two identical classes of 45 minutes each; maximum class size per session is 15. First class runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.; the second class will run from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. BE SURE YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR THE CLASS YOU WANT.

Saturday, September 6, 2008 Fondue Festival 8:00 am Location: Downtown Fond du Lac The award-winning Fondue Fest, Presented by BrownBoots Interactive, The Reporter and The Action Advertiser, returns to downtown Fond du Lac on Saturday, September 6, 2008. The festival, now in its second year, will introduce exciting changes and bring back much-loved favorites for a full day of great family fun, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As usual, fondue will be front and center. In a new twist, the wonderful chefs at Moraine Park Technical College’s Culinary Arts Program will do the cooking honors, creating a cheese fondue and a chocolate fondue. Downtown merchants will join in my creating their own fondue concoctions for visitors. And of course, the 2007 Guinness World Record-winning Largest Fondue Set will be on display.
Many of the festival favorites will return. The Kids’ Fun-Due Zone, presented by Wood’s Floral & Gifts, will fill downtown’s Sheboygan Street with free kids’ games and activities. The Giddings & Lewis Music Stage will bring great live music to the festival. And the Main to Marian: Agnesian HealthCare’s Family Fun Bicycle Ride will return for a non-competitive bike ride for the whole family. And of course, Main Street will be lined with merchants’ booths, Farmers Market, arts and crafts vendors and lots of great food and drink for sale.
